    Sindhu at the age of eight started playing badminton. Under the guidance of Mehboob Ali, she started learning the basics of badminton at the badminton courts of the Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad. She travelled a distance of 56 km every day from her residence to the badminton courts to learn and practice the sport.

    PV Sindhu joined Gopichand Badminton Academy and won several titles under the 10-years category. At the Ambuja Cement All India ranking, she won the 5th Servo All India ranking championship in the doubles and the singles category.

    In the under 13-years category, Sindhu won the titles at the Sub-juniors in Pondicherry, doubles titles at the Krishna Khaitan All India Tournament, IOC All India Ranking, the Sub-Junior Nationals and the All India Ranking in Pune. In the under 14-years category, she won a gold medal at the 51st National State Games in India.

    At the age of 14, PV Sindhu entered the international circuit. She won a bronze medal at the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships in Colombo. Sindhu won a silver medal at the 2010  Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge. She made it to the quarterfinals of the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships in Mexico but lost to the Chinese opponent.

    In 2011, Sindhu won Maldives International Challenge in June and the Indonesia  International Challenge in July. At the Dutch Open, she made it to the finals but lost the match. At Swiss International, Sindhu won the Finals beating Carola Bott. She won the India International badminton event in 2011.

    Sindhu is showing great performance at the Tokyo Olympics as well this year in 2021 and has reached the quarterfinals of Women’s Single Badminton.

    PV Sindhu: Endorsements

    As per reports, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is the second Sportsperson after Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli in terms of brand endorsements. She charges brands between US$140,000 – US$180,000 for a single day. She has endorsed deals with several brands such as Myntra, Flipkart, Nokia, Stayfree, Panasonic, Bank of Baroda, Central Reserve Police Force, Vizag Steel, JBL, etc.

    In February 2019, PV Sindhu signed a deal with Chinese sports brand Li Ning for US$7.0 million for four years. During 2014-15, PV Sindhu was associated with Li Ning. In 2016, she signed a contract with Yonex for three years charging US$490,000 per year.

    Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, also known as PV Sindhu, was born on July 5, 1995, in Hyderabad, India. Her parents, Pusarla Ramana andP. Vijaya, were both professional volleyball players, and it was through their influence that Sindhu started playing badminton at the age of eight.  Sindhu attended Auxilium High School andSt. Ann’s College for Women in Hyderabad. Despite her busy training schedule, she managed to  exceed in academics and graduated with a degree in commerce.

    Her family played an important  part in supporting her badminton career, with her father taking on the  part of her trainer during her constructive times.  Growing up, Sindhu  doted  badminton legends  similar as Pullela Gopichand and Saina Nehwal. Her love for the sport and determination to succeed led her to come one of India’s most promising badminton players.

    Pusarla Venkata Sindhu’s rise to badminton fame is nothing short of  emotional. The Indian shuttler started playing the sport at the age of eight and trained under  famed trainer Pullela Gopichand at his academe in Hyderabad. It did not take long for Sindhu to show  pledge, and soon enough, she was making  swells in the badminton circuit.  Sindhu’s advance came in 2012 when she won the citation  order at the Asia Youth Under- 19 Championship.

    She continued to make a name for herself, winning several titles in the following times, including the Macau Open and the Malaysian Open. still, it was Sindhu’s performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics that  pelted her to global recognition.  Sindhu’s  tableware  order at the 2016 Olympics was  major, making her the first Indian woman to win a  tableware  order in badminton at the Games.

    2. World Championship Medals Sindhu has also  bettered in the World Crowns, winning a gold  order in 2019 and a  tableware  order in 2017. These palms have earned her  wide recognition and respect in the badminton community. 

    3. Commonwealth Games Gold In 2018, Sindhu added another major title to her collection, winning the gold  order at the Commonwealth Games held in Australia. 

    4. BWF Player of the Year Sindhu was named the BWF Female Player of the Time in 2019, a testament to her  harmonious dominance and  emotional performances. 

    5. Arjuna Award and Padma Shri Sindhu has been  honored for her achievements by the Indian government,  entering the Arjuna Award in 2013 and the Padma Shri in 2015.

    Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is not just a fierce badminton player, but also an interesting individual with a variety of hobbies and interests.

    One of Sindhu’s biggest interests is music. She loves to sing and listen to music in her free time, and is known to have a melodious voice. In fact, she has even released a song called “Vennela Vennela” in collaboration with popular South Indian music director, M.M. Keeravani.
