DRAYMOND GREEN BASKETBALL CAREER

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER (SAGINAW HIGH SCHOOL)

Draymond Green attended Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan, where he played high school basketball. Green averaged a double-double in his final three seasons as a Trojan, leading the team to back-to-back state championships in his final two seasons. Following his senior season, USA Today placed the team as the number four high school team in the country, while ESPN listed him as a top-40 prospect in the country coming out of high school.

College Career (Michigan State University)

Green chose to play college basketball at Michigan State University under famed head coach Tom Izzo. Green remained at Michigan State for four years, increasing his playing time from 11 minutes per game as a freshman to 33 minutes per game as a senior. Green was averaging a double-double in his senior season by the time he graduated from Michigan State.

Green helped the Spartans win the Big Ten Tournament and make many appearances in the NCAA Tournament during his career at Michigan State. During the team’s run to the 2009 national championship game, he shot 68% in the tournament and achieved two triple-doubles.

NBA CAREER

The Golden State Warriors selected Draymond Green with the 35th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draught. Not all second-round picks succeed in the NBA, but Green has, with multiple NBA championships and All-Star Game appearances to his name. Green’s tenacity gave the Warriors a dimension that they did not have when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were at the helm. Green helped the Warriors reach the playoffs right away, from his rookie season on.

After two years of futility in the playoffs, the Dubs won the NBA Finals to cap off the 2014-15 season. Golden State defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers under head coach Steve Kerr to win their first of many titles during this era of franchise history. Green had a triple-double in Game 6 of the championship series.

The following season, GSW enjoyed the finest regular season in NBA history, going 73-9 and breaking the record for victories in an 82-game season held by the Jordan-era Chicago Bulls. Green won his first all-star selection that season, averaging 14 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game. However, the Warriors were unable to win a second consecutive championship that season, as Green and the Warriors were defeated by the Cavaliers in a thrilling seven-game series.

After failing to win the championship in 2016, the Warriors signed free agent former MVP Kevin Durant. Durant pushed the Warriors to an even higher level in a Western Conference full of dangerous teams like the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers, as the team won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. Green and Durant had a rocky relationship at times, but they made it work for three straight Finals appearances together as the team relocated from Oakland to San Francisco.

DRAYMOND GREEN NET WORTH, SALARY, ENDORSEMENTS & CAREER EARNINGS

Draymond Green signed a four-year, $99 million contract with the Golden State Warriors in 2019. Prior to that, in 2015, he agreed to a five-year, $82 million contract. Green has earned over $66 million in his career and is set to collect more than $100 million in NBA contract payouts over the following five seasons.

Companies have flocked to Green because of his enormous personality and the fact that he is a household brand, and he has promoted products from Smile Direct Club and Beats by Dre, among others.
